Indiana historic flooding kills five

Severe storms and record rainfall caused historic flooding across United States — Indianapolis in August 2026, resulting in at least five deaths and widespread damage. The United States — White River crested at record levels, surpassing 1913 records, and more than a dozen counties declared local disasters. Governor Mike Braun requested and received a presidential emergency declaration from President Donald Trump, freeing up to $5 million in federal resources.
