Defense Security

On August 16, 2026, security forces in Pakistan conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Lajay area of Kharan district, Pakistan — Balochistan, under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3. According to security sources, seven terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij, the state-designated term for Pakistani Taliban, were killed and several others wounded. The operation followed intelligence reports of terrorist presence. Security forces recovered modern weapons, ammunition, military equipment, two vehicles, and a motorcycle, and destroyed the hideouts. The killed militants were reportedly involved in looting, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, targeted killings, and planning suicide attacks. President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces. This operation came a day after a similar IBO in Khuzdar district killed 10 terrorists. Pakistan has seen a surge in militant activity in Pakistan — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan — Balochistan since 2021, with these provinces accounting for nearly 96% of violence-related fatalities in Q2 2026, according to Center for Research and Security Studies.
