The delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan may stabilize food markets and reduce the risk of famine, but the ongoing border closure and conflict continue to disrupt supply chains. The event highlights the fragility of aid logistics in the region, potentially affecting commodity prices and humanitarian funding flows.

More than 700 trucks carrying international humanitarian aid arrived in Afghanistan via Pakistan despite a near-total closure of the land border between the two countries following clashes in October 2025. The convoy, carrying food and other critical humanitarian items, crossed through Torkham, according to the United Nations. The UN Resident & Humanitarian Coordinator for Pakistan, Mo Yahya, confirmed 724 trucks crossed, thanking Islamabad for keeping the humanitarian lifeline open. The World Food Programme (WFP) warned in early August that acute child malnutrition has reached critical levels in Afghanistan this year. Nearly 14 million Afghans are facing acute hunger due to deadly earthquakes last year, climate-related disasters this year, and the return of millions of Afghans from Iran and Pakistan since 2023. The conflict with Pakistan has severely disrupted logistical routes for humanitarian aid, forcing rerouting of supplies through Iran and other countries.
