Lok Sabha disallows CJP protest questions

During the Monsoon Session of Parliament, three sets of questions submitted by DMK India — Lok Sabha MP Matheswaran VS regarding the India — Rashtriya Janata Dal-led youth protests were disallowed by the India — Lok Sabha secretariat. The questions, bearing notice reference numbers 101799 and 101801, sought information from the Union Home Ministry and Union Education Ministry on topics including National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-UG 2026 fee refunds, public distrust, denial of facilities to protesters, government engagement with students, paper leaks, education reforms, and treatment of peaceful protesters. The disallowance was based on Rule 41(2) of the India — Lok Sabha Rules, citing clauses (i), (iv), (v), (xviii), and (xxii). CJP chief spokesperson Sourav Das (actor) criticized the decision as 'very bizarre justifications for perfectly legitimate questions' and questioned the government's accountability, specifically asking why Home Minister Amit Shah did not address Parliament regarding police action against protesters. The protests, which began in June over National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-UG and paper leaks, intensified after activist Sonam Wangchuk joined a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar and a 'Sansad Chalo' march on July 20, during which police allegedly used pellet guns. The CJP called off its agitation after the government accepted demands including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Opposition parties raised the issue in Parliament, contributing to disruptions.
