The launch may increase investment flows into African mining by providing verified data, potentially benefiting mining companies and commodity markets. It could also support the electric vehicle supply chain by improving access to critical minerals.
STRATUM, a London-based company, launched its strategic mineral intelligence platform on August 16, 2026, to connect verified African mining assets with institutional capital. The platform provides verified, de-identified intelligence on critical and battery minerals such as lithium, gold, tin, and rare earth elements, addressing the lack of reliable information that has hindered investment in Africa's mineral resources. STRATUM launched with 17 verified mining assets, with eight locations open for investor engagement and about 70 more in verification. The platform offers geospatial mapping, tiered data rooms, and AI-assisted analysis, and plans to introduce STRATUM X for institutional ground-truth intelligence and STRATUM XT for tokenization. The launch comes amid rising demand for critical minerals driven by electric vehicles, record copper prices, a US executive order on mineral supply chains, and Nigeria's announcement of a large lithium reserve.
