India — Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed flood relief and restoration efforts in the flood-affected districts of Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, and Golaghat. The state government has disbursed nearly Rs 150 crore as interim relief, with remaining claims to be cleared by the next day. Damage assessment is about 75% complete, with over 1,000 surveyors working to finish the rest. The government is repairing 793 schools, rebuilding roads and public infrastructure, and operating high-capacity pumps to dewater low-lying areas. Health camps are being scaled up to monitor for disease outbreaks. Loan relief and insurance claims are being reviewed, with eligible people urged to file by August 30. On August 12, the India — Assam Government announced a relief package of approximately Rs 1,000 crore for affected families. The survey process is expected to be completed by September 15.
