ByteDance, the Chinese parent of ByteDance — TikTok Shop, signed an agreement with the Motion Picture Association (MPA) to strengthen copyright safeguards on its AI video and image generation models, Seedance and Seedream. The deal follows a cease-and-desist letter issued by the MPA in February 2026, which alleged that ByteDance's AI tools could generate unauthorized content featuring copyrighted characters and celebrity likenesses.
