On August 17, 2026, the High Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC) of the India — Haryana government, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, approved the purchase of 26,161 transformers for the state's power corporations to strengthen electricity infrastructure. The procurement includes 100 distribution transformers for India — Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, 28 and 33 power transformers for India — Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam, and 26,000 distribution transformers for India — Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam. Additionally, the committee approved the procurement of 5,000 to 7,500 safety kits for linemen and the construction of GIS bays at various power stations at a cost of Rs 81 crore. Negotiations with firms resulted in rates lower than prescribed prices. The move aims to ensure uninterrupted power supply and enhance worker safety.
