United States — Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced the indictment of 14 individuals, 13 of whom were Pennsylvania State University students during the 2023-2024 school year, in connection with a cocaine-trafficking ring operating through two fraternities, Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi. The ring allegedly sourced cocaine from United States — New York City and United States — Philadelphia, packaged it at fraternity houses, and distributed it primarily to Penn State students. Two main suppliers, Robert Thomas and Agostino Abbatiello, are charged with felony corrupt organizations, conspiracy, and related offenses. Eight others face misdemeanor charges, and William Robinson, father of Thomas, is charged with tampering with evidence. Penn State placed Delta Upsilon on interim suspension and stated Sigma Chi is not a recognized organization. The investigation, dubbed 'Operation Drugs Unlimited,' involved the United States — State College Police Department and a grand jury. The university expressed horror at the allegations and pledged cooperation with law enforcement.
