The Lanarkshire AI Growth Zone in Scotland — North Lanarkshire, United Kingdom — Scotland, secured a landmark £300 million investment package on 18 August 2026. The package includes a £202 million guarantee from the Sovereign wealth fund, which helped unlock financing from ING, ABN AMRO, Santander, the Scotland — Scottish National Investment Bank, and Siemens — Siemens Financial Services. The funds will enable developer DataVita to expand its existing DV1 datacentre and construct a second facility, providing compute capacity for AI infrastructure. The wider development is expected to support more than 3,400 jobs and attract over £8 billion in private investment. Additionally, Dell Technologies announced it will relocate its Scottish team to Mercury House within the Lanarkshire AI Innovation Park.
