Florida executes William Silvia

William Frances Silvia, 61, was scheduled to be executed on August 18, 2026, at United States — Florida State Prison near Starke, becoming the 13th prisoner put to death in United States — Florida that year. Silvia was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder for the 2006 shooting of his estranged wife Patricia Silvia and her mother Betty Woodard. He was sentenced to death in 2008, but the sentence was vacated on appeal; a new death penalty phase in 2018 again resulted in a death sentence. His final appeal was pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.
