The milestone reinforces Maruti Suzuki's export growth, which has become a key driver for the company as it expands globally. It strengthens India's position as a manufacturing hub and may positively influence investor sentiment toward Maruti Suzuki and the Indian auto sector.
Maruti Suzuki India's compact SUV, the Fronx, has become the fastest SUV from India to reach 2 lakh (200,000) exports, achieving the milestone in under 38 months since shipments began in June 2023. The vehicle is manufactured at the company's Hansalpur facility in Gujarat and is exported to nearly 90 countries, including Japan. The Fronx crossed its first 1 lakh exports in under 25 months and added the second lakh in about 13 months, reflecting growing overseas demand. According to data from the Automotive industry in India (SIAM), the Fronx has been India's most-exported passenger vehicle since FY25, retaining the position in FY26 and Q1 FY27. Maruti Suzuki remains India's largest passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive year, shipping 17 models to nearly 120 countries. Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi highlighted the company's 'Make in India, Make for the World' strategy and noted that all three of India's top exported passenger vehicles in Q1 FY27 were Maruti Suzuki models.
