The India — Aadhaar (UIDAI) announced the completion of over 20 million (2 crore) Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU) for school children across India. The drive, launched in September 2025, has covered over 1.56 lakh schools, facilitated by UIDAI's integration with the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+). The initiative aims to ensure Aadhaar records remain accurate for children as they age, with MBU required at ages 5 and 15. To encourage participation, UIDAI waived charges for MBU for children aged 7-15 from October 1, 2025, for one year, making the service free for all children aged 5-17 until September 30, 2026.
