Mangu attack kills 24, mass burial

On the night of August 17, 2027, armed gunmen attacked the Bin-Per community in Ruff, Kombun District of Nigeria — Mangu Local Government Area, Nigeria — Plateau State, Nigeria. The attackers moved from house to house, killing residents in their sleep. According to the Mwaghavul Youth Movement, 24 people were killed and buried in a mass burial on August 18. Several others were injured and hospitalized, and at least 38 houses, farmlands, and stored grains were destroyed, as reported by the Nigeria — Lagos State House of Assembly. The attack triggered a peaceful protest by women from the community, who demanded government action. The Mwaghavul Youth Movement and the Nigeria — African Democratic Congress condemned the attack, while Governor Caleb Mutfwang directed security forces to intensify surveillance. The attack occurred amid ongoing tensions between the Mwaghavul and Fulani communities, with a previous incident on August 12, 2027, resulting in three deaths.
