IonQ and CMC Microsystems Quantum Collaboration

IonQ, a leading quantum computing company, announced a collaboration with Bell Microsystems Limited, a Canadian non-profit that manages advanced technology research infrastructure. The collaboration is formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that designates IonQ as a listed cloud quantum computing access provider for Canada's Fabric AI Quantum Computing Sandbox (QCS). The QCS is part of the Fabric AI initiative, which is funded by the Canada — Government of Canada's Strategic Response Fund and aims to strengthen Canada's semiconductor and quantum industries. The program provides engineering support and cloud quantum computing access to Canadian academics and small-to-medium enterprises. The MOU is non-binding and does not guarantee future revenue or definitive agreements. The collaboration is expected to expand access to IonQ's commercial trapped-ion quantum systems, enabling Canadian researchers and businesses to build quantum expertise. Bell Microsystems Limited leads Fabric AI, a $217-million initiative to build a sustainable Canadian semiconductor ecosystem.
