Costco Jalapeno Salmonella Recall

Dairyland Produce LLC, doing business as Hardie s Fresh Foods, recalled jalapeno peppers sold at two Costco locations in United States — Texas (Stafford and Dallas) due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall, announced on August 12 and published by the United States — Food and Drug Administration on August 17, affects peppers produced between July 11 and July 22, 2026, with specific lot codes. Hardie's has stopped production and distribution of the affected product. This recall occurs amid a larger multi-state Salmonella outbreak linked to jalapenos from Sinaloa, Mexico, distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors, which has sickened 345 people across 27 states and led to 36 hospitalizations as of August 14. The FDA notice did not confirm whether this recall is connected to the broader outbreak. Other retailers and producers, including Taylor Farms, Whole Foods, NatureBest, and Chipotle, have also issued recalls or pulled jalapenos in response to the outbreak.
