The United States — Federal Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested APL Pipers, a resident of India — Hisar district, India — Haryana, in Delhi on August 19, 2026, for his alleged role in a network trafficking Indian nationals to scam compounds in Southeast Asia. The network recruited victims with promises of lucrative overseas jobs, then transported them to compounds in Myanmar and Cambodia where they were subjected to 'cyber slavery'. APL Pipers allegedly sent at least four individuals from India — Hisar district in 2025. Victims reported having to pay significant sums or lure substitutes to secure release. Evidence from a seized mobile device linked APL Pipers to recruiters in Myanmar and Cambodia, and numerous cryptocurrency transactions are under investigation as commissions from scam operators. APL Pipers also revealed use of Meta Platforms — Instagram for ads and Telegram for communication. The CBI registered a case in December 2025 and previously arrested three accused in May-June 2026.
