On August 19, 2026, Bangladesh's Bangladesh — Power Division inaugurated the country's first scientifically designed, grid-connected agrivoltaics pilot project in Chuadanga Sadar. The project is implemented under the Green Energy Transition - Policy Advisory Partnership (GET-PAP), co-funded by the European Union and the Germany — German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by Germany — Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit in partnership with the Bangladesh — Power Division. Technical guidance is provided by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE), a pioneer in agrivoltaics. Infrastructure Development Company (IDCOL) financed 80% of installation costs through a capital grant from Germany's Japan — Development Bank of Japan, while local civil society organization Wave Foundation sponsored the project and hosted it at its solar irrigation site.
