Hapag-Lloyd has signed an agreement with APM Terminals to acquire a 25% stake in APM Terminals Maasvlakte II B.V., the operator of the Maasvlakte II terminal in the Netherlands — Rotterdam. The investment supports the terminal's ongoing expansion, which includes adding 1,000 meters of deep-sea berth (bringing total to 2,000 meters), additional yard capacity, four extra rail tracks, and deployment of Automated Terminal Tractors. The terminal is expected to reach an annual handling capacity of 5.4 million TEU. APM Terminals will retain operational control, while Hapag-Lloyd will hold the stake through its Hanseatic Global Terminals division. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval, and financial details were not disclosed. The partnership strengthens the Gemini Cooperation between Hapag-Lloyd and A.P. Moller - Maersk.
