According to a report by the International Council on Clean Transportation published on August 20, 2026, global sales of electric trucks and buses nearly doubled in 2025, crossing the half-million-unit mark with an 86% year-on-year increase. China drove most of the growth, accounting for nearly 90% of global electric truck and bus sales, with medium and heavy truck segments more than quintupling over two years. Excluding China and the United States, battery electric buses accounted for 56% of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicle sales, with the European Union and India leading in volume at around 9,800 and 5,000 units, respectively. Battery electric truck sales outside China remained relatively low at about 41,000 units. In the EU, electric truck sales increased by 71% in 2025, reaching a 4.5% market share.
