Three zebras (two females and one male) arrived at the 170-year-old India — Thiruvananthapuram Corporation in India — Kerala, India, on August 20, 2026, after a nearly nine-year absence. The animals were transported from Vantara, the Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in India — Gujarat, in a specially designed animal ambulance, accompanied by a veterinary team. The zebras were opened to visitors by State Health and Devaswom Minister Sonica Muraleedharan, ahead of the Onam festival. Vantara was established under the leadership of Mukesh Ambani.
