The fee revision is a minor operational change for SBI, likely to have a negligible impact on its stock price or overall market. The accompanying strong Q1 earnings reinforce SBI's stable financial position, but the fee change itself is not expected to move markets.

Banking

State Bank of India (SBI) announced revised cash withdrawal charges for Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts opened through branches, effective October 1. Customers will continue to receive four free cash withdrawals per month; each additional withdrawal will cost Rs 15 plus applicable GST. Digital transactions remain free without limits. The bank also removed the exclusion of Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) transactions from the calculation of the four free monthly withdrawals. The change is part of SBI's ongoing efforts to streamline service charges and promote digital banking. In its Q1FY27 results, SBI reported a 10.23% year-on-year increase in net profit to Rs 21,121 crore, supported by higher interest income, loan growth, and lower bad loan provisions. Operating profit rose 9.8% to Rs 33,529 crore, and net interest income increased 14.9% to Rs 46,992 crore. SBI shares traded flat at Rs 1,048.05 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
