The program supports sustainable agricultural practices and responsible disposal, which may enhance the reputation of participating companies and the agricultural sector. It has minimal direct market impact but reinforces environmental stewardship commitments.
Cleanfarms, an agricultural producer responsibility organization, announced its Fall 2026 Unwanted Pesticides and Old Livestock/Equine Medications (UPLM) collection program. The program will hold collection events in Canada — Quebec (Sept 21-Oct 8), Canada — British Columbia's Vancouver Island and Fraser Valley regions (Oct 6-16), Southern Canada — Saskatchewan (Oct 26-30), and Canada — Prince Edward Island (Nov 16-27). Farmers can drop off unwanted pesticides and obsolete livestock/equine medications at no cost. The program is funded by Cleanfarms' crop-protection industry members and the Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI). Last year's collections saw a 22% increase in returns compared to previous cycles in those regions. The initiative supports responsible disposal and environmental stewardship in Canadian agriculture.
