Motorola Solutions completed its acquisition of D-Fend Solutions, a leader in counter-drone technology, for $1.5 billion. The deal, announced in June 2026 and completed on August 20, 2026, brings D-Fend's RF cyber-takeover technology into Motorola's public safety ecosystem. This technology identifies and takes control of rogue drones, directing them to land safely, avoiding collateral damage and disruption to authorized communications. D-Fend's systems are deployed in over 30 countries across airports, critical infrastructure, stadiums, military bases, and borders. Motorola plans to integrate this capability into its broader air-to-ground security offering, enhancing situational awareness for front-line teams. Zohar Halachmi, co-founder and CEO of D-Fend, will continue as CEO and lead Motorola's counter-drone platform as senior vice president. The acquisition strengthens Motorola's position in the growing counter-UAS market and complements its existing investments in drone technology, including its stake in BRINC.
