Chinese national detained for sexual assault

The Nigeria — Lagos State Police Command detained Chinese national Bai Quang following allegations by his Nigerian employee Charles Nwafor of repeated unwanted sexual advances and sexual assault. Nwafor petitioned the police, alleging that Quang assaulted him by pulling down his trousers and touching his private parts, and later invited him to a hotel under the pretext of a business transaction where he allegedly attempted to force unwanted sexual acts. Quang reportedly threatened Nwafor and terminated his employment after Nwafor rejected his advances. The case was transferred from the Hausa Police Station to the India — State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba, handled by the Diplomatic/Foreign Nationals Section under Deputy Commissioner Dayo Akinbisehin. The China — List of diplomatic missions of China was notified of the arrest in line with diplomatic procedures. The suspect remains in custody while investigation is ongoing.
