The collaboration is unlikely to have significant direct impact on financial markets, as it primarily affects professional education and qualification recognition within the accountancy sector. It may modestly enhance the reputation and global reach of both institutes, potentially benefiting their members and the broader accounting profession.
On 21 August 2026, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ISCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced two initiatives to deepen their collaboration. ISCA signed a Letter of Cooperation outlining a proposed Global AI Fluency Initiative, which would extend ISCA's AI Fluency Programme to ICAI's members and students, potentially reaching over 1.5 million professionals. The programme, approximately 30 hours with 180 hands-on cases, covers AI foundations, accounting specialisations, and AI leadership and governance. Additionally, ISCA approved a proposed Module Exemption Agreement (MEA) with ICAI to provide specified exemptions under their respective qualification pathways, enhancing professional recognition. The MEA is subject to formal execution and approvals in India, but ISCA will implement exemptions from the SCAQ for eligible ICAI members effective 21 August 2026. The collaboration builds on the longstanding relationship between the two institutes and aims to strengthen AI capabilities and professional recognition in the accountancy profession.
