Nvidia Corp. is in early discussions with South Korean AI chip designer Rebellion about possible collaborations, including a technical partnership, an investment, or potentially an acquisition. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met with Rebellion co-founder and CEO Sunghyun Park at Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, to discuss a potential tie-up. The talks are preliminary and may not lead to a transaction. Rebellion, based in Bundang, South Korea, has raised roughly $850 million from investors including SK Hynix, Samsung Ventures, Arm Holdings, and SK Telecom, and was most recently valued at around $2.3 billion. In March, it raised $400 million in a pre-IPO round led by Mirae Asset Financial Group and the Korea National Growth Fund, which marked the fund's first direct investment under a K-Nvidia initiative. The company specializes in neural processing units for data centers, optimized for AI inference work. Nvidia has been on an investment spree, including a 2025 deal with US AI firm Groq, securing a nonexclusive license while absorbing most of its engineering talent. Any acquisition-like arrangement may face regulatory scrutiny from the US Department of Justice and the South Korean government, where semiconductors are viewed as critical strategic assets.
