On August 21, 2026, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated seven infrastructure projects worth Rs 427.80 crore at Paradip Port in India — Odisha, India. The projects include capital dredging to provide 18.5-metre deep-draft capability, enabling the port to handle fully laden Capesize vessels, a 500-metre three-lane bridge, a sports hostel, an upgraded administrative office building, piped natural gas supply to residential quarters, and an advanced vessel traffic management system. Sonowal also witnessed the signing of concession agreements for three mechanisation projects worth Rs 1,580.36 crore, awarded to Yogayatan Paradip SQB Terminal Private Limited, Kalinga Bulk Terminal Paradip Private Limited, and AMNS Paradip Logistics Private Limited, as part of the port's plan to achieve 100% berth mechanisation by 2030. Additionally, the port marked the planting of its one-millionth tree, reinforcing its environmental sustainability commitment. The projects aim to strengthen Paradip's position as a major maritime gateway and create economic opportunities across eastern India.
