The International — European Commission released a flash estimate showing euro zone consumer confidence improved to -15.5 in August from -15.9 in July, a rise of 0.4 points. This was better than the -16.3 expected by economists polled by Reuters. In the European Union as a whole, consumer sentiment rose by 0.1 point to -15.0. The data suggests a slight improvement in consumer morale across the region.
