On August 22, 2026, a 31-year-old M.Sc. Physics student at IIT Delhi died after allegedly jumping from the sixth floor of the Lecture Hall Complex on the campus. The student entered the campus around 8 a.m., took a lift to the sixth floor, and jumped from the front side of the building. He was rushed to the campus hospital, where he was declared brought dead. India — Delhi Police received a PCR call at 8:33 a.m., and a team from India — Kishangarh Police Station responded. The crime team and India — Directorate of Forensic Science Services inspected the scene and collected evidence. No suicide note was found, but a mobile phone was recovered and will be examined. Police are obtaining counselling records and investigating the circumstances. The incident follows a similar death in March 2026 and comes a day after another student suicide in Delhi.
