FCTA Basic Life Support Training

The Nigeria — Federal Capital Territory (Nigeria) (FCTA) has commenced a four-day Basic Life Support (BLS) training for health workers from seven hospitals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria. The training, approved by the United Kingdom — National Health Service and certified by the American Heart Association, aims to improve emergency response and reduce preventable deaths. Health workers from Asokoro, Maitama, Wuse, Gwarinpa, Kuje, Kubwa, and Nyanya hospitals are participating. The training is conducted in batches, with the first batch on August 21-22 and the second on September 4-5, 2026. It includes a 'Stop the Bleeding' course. The FCTA plans to establish Code Blue Teams across FCT hospitals and extend the training to other hospitals. Participants will be assessed and certified. The initiative is part of the National Community CPR Initiative.
