The certification enhances DMRC's reputation as a world-class metro operator, potentially strengthening its position in future O&M contracts and partnerships. It may also encourage other Indian metro organisations to adopt similar asset management standards, driving industry-wide improvements.
The India — Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has become the first metro organisation in India to receive ISO 55001:2024 certification for its Asset Management System for Mumbai Metro Line-3. The certification, announced on August 23, 2026, marks a shift from conventional maintenance to strategic, risk-based and lifecycle-oriented asset management. DMRC achieved the certification in record time by strengthening its asset management framework, including enhancing the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), aligning objectives, strengthening risk assessment, and training personnel. DMRC is responsible for operations and maintenance of the 33.5-km Mumbai Metro Line-3 corridor connecting Colaba, Bandra and SEEPZ. The certification sets a new benchmark for India's urban rail sector and demonstrates DMRC's capability to provide world-class metro O&M and asset management expertise beyond Delhi-NCR.
