On National Space Day, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that domestically manufactured semiconductor chips are powering key Indian space missions. The India — Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) confirmed that these components support lunar and solar exploration, satellites, and launch vehicles. The India — Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL) in Mohali develops and manufactures flight-grade components, including radiation-hardened chips, CCD/CMOS imagers, ASICs, and sensors. These have been deployed in Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1, and SCL's Vikram processor is used in launch vehicles. This strengthens India's technological self-reliance in space.
