Kwankwaso Urges Yari to Reject APC Campaign Role

Rabiu Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria — African Democratic Congress (NDC), issued a statement on Sunday criticizing the composition of the Nigeria — All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election. He specifically appealed to Senator Abdul aziz Abubakar Yari, the appointed Director-General of the council, to reconsider his acceptance of the role. Kwankwaso argued that Yari, as a former governor of Nigeria — Zamfara State, should be aware of the hardships faced by Nigerians and should not lead a campaign seeking the continuation of President Bola Tinubu's administration. He also questioned the inclusion of senior public officials, including Zacch Adedeji of the Nigeria — Nigeria Revenue Service and Tanimu Yakubu of the Nigeria — List of government agencies of Nigeria, in the campaign's fundraising and finance structures, citing concerns about institutional neutrality and public trust. Kwankwaso framed the 2027 election as a struggle between the oppressed masses and those who have benefited from the current system, urging Nigerians to reject continued oppression and demand accountable governance.
