IGKV cancels leaked Plant Pathology exam

Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV), a government-run agricultural university in Raipur, India, cancelled the BSc Agriculture first-year Plant Pathology examination held on August 7 after a police investigation confirmed that the question paper had been leaked. The decision was made during an emergency meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr Girish Chandel, following the August 20 leak of the Entomology question paper, a second-year subject, which led to the arrest of a professor and five students from Bharatiya Agricultural College in Durg district. The investigation into the Entomology leak revealed that the Plant Pathology paper had also been compromised. Re-examinations for both leaked papers are scheduled for the first week of September. The university has issued a notice to Bharatiya Agricultural College for failing to ensure examination confidentiality, initiated disciplinary action against detained students, and issued show-cause notices to exam observers. To prevent future leaks, IGKV has implemented stricter security measures, including sending question papers via password-protected email, increasing CCTV surveillance, and considering modern technology for examination security.
