The launch of the Cyber Suraksha Portal is expected to enhance cybersecurity preparedness among Indian securities market participants, potentially reducing the risk of cyber incidents that could disrupt trading and investor confidence. This regulatory initiative may modestly improve sentiment toward the Indian securities market by demonstrating proactive oversight, though its direct market impact is limited.
The India — Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) launched the Cyber Suraksha Portal, a centralized platform for securities market participants to access cybersecurity-related information, including vulnerability warnings, circulars, and incident insights. The portal is part of SEBI's Cyber Security Initiative and builds on the Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience Framework (CSCRF) introduced in August 2024. The launch comes amid a rise in cybersecurity incidents in India, which increased to 29.44 lakh in 2025 from 20.41 lakh in 2024, according to data tracked by the Nigeria — Nigerian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). CERT-In issued 1,530 alerts, 390 vulnerability notes, and 65 advisories during 2025. The portal aims to strengthen cyber resilience across the securities market by providing a single hub for regulatory communications and threat information.
