R200M cocaine seizure at OR Tambo

On August 25, 2026, South Africa — South African Police Service (SAPS) members at South Africa — O. R. Tambo International Airport, working with Customs officials, intercepted two consignments of suspected cocaine. The first was two travel suitcases containing approximately 84 kilograms of cocaine blocks; the second was four boxes in the cargo section containing approximately 250 kilograms of cocaine packed into 220 blocks. The combined estimated street value exceeds R200 million. No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible. Acting National Commissioner Puleng Dimpane commended the team's vigilance and reiterated commitment to disrupting drug trafficking through South Africa's entry points.
