India sends relief flights to Nepal floods

Following catastrophic flash floods in Nepal triggered by heavy monsoon rains, India has dispatched a second flight carrying 37.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid, medicines, and food supplies to Kathmandu on August 27, 2026. This follows an initial 10-tonne delivery on Wednesday. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed the mission on social media, reiterating India's commitment to supporting Nepal's relief efforts. Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava formally handed over the consignment to Nepalese Minister Khadak Raj Paudel. The India — Indian Air Force is operating C-17 and C-130J aircraft for the relief missions, with support from the India — National Disaster Response Force. According to official updates, at least 162 bodies have been recovered from the Nepal — Bhote Koshi River and downstream areas, with hundreds still missing. The floods have caused extensive damage to infrastructure, homes, and agricultural land, displacing thousands of families. India's assistance is part of its 'Neighbourhood First' policy.
