SCO Summit in Bishkek

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will hold its Council of Heads of State summit and an expanded 'SCO Plus' meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from August 31 to September 1, 2026, under the chairmanship of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. Leaders and representatives from 17 countries, including SCO member states Russia, Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as invited partners such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Mongolia, Togo, Turkey, Laos, Vietnam, and Egypt, are expected to attend. International organizations, including the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, will also be represented. The summit will address the international and regional agenda, the future development of the SCO, and cooperation in political, trade, economic, transport, digital, environmental, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. Participants are expected to adopt the Bishkek Declaration marking the SCO's 25th anniversary, along with various decisions and thematic statements. The 'SCO Plus' session will focus on the central coordinating role of the UN, international law, sustainable development, and mutually beneficial cooperation. This summit concludes Kyrgyzstan's rotating chairmanship of the SCO for 2025-2026.
