Nepal's Nepal — National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) issued a fresh flood warning on August 30, 2026, as water levels in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa district rose further. The Trishuli River downstream surged 3 metres above usual levels at Galchhi in Dhading, prompting alerts for Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Chitwan districts. The NDRRMA warned that an obstructed tributary, the Lhende Khola, could form a natural dam that might burst and trigger another major flood. The August 26 flood has reportedly killed 675 people, with 2,498 people uncontactable, including 589 foreigners. Over 7,500 people have been evacuated, including 279 workers trapped at hydroelectric project sites. More than 18,000 security personnel from the Nepal — Nepali Army, Nepal — Nepal Police, and India — Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed for rescue operations. Prime Minister Balen Shah declared the government on high alert.
