The Nigeria — Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) reported generating N1.38 trillion in revenue during July and August 2026, comprising N784.66 billion in July and N595.58 billion in August. The Nigeria — Apapa Area Command set a historic monthly revenue record of N323 billion in July and a new single-day record of N28.1 billion on August 18, surpassing the previous benchmark of N20.1 billion set in September 2025. During the period, the NCS processed 90,985 Single Goods Declarations and 8,873 Pre-Arrival Assessment Reports. Enforcement operations led to seizures valued at over N61.3 billion, including 399 Jojef pump-action rifles and 535 firearm components intercepted at Nigeria — Tin Can Island Port on August 17, which were handed over to the Nigeria — National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons. Other seizures included 3,300 cartridges of explosives at the Seme border, foreign currencies (827,800 Saudi Arabia — Saudi riyals, 73,300 US dollars, and 15,957 pounds) in Kano/Jigawa, goods worth N3.24 billion in Zone A, and narcotics and unregistered pharmaceuticals valued at N53.39 billion handed over to NDLEA and NAFDAC. The NCS also rescued wildlife, including lion cubs and a baby gorilla, and arrested suspects linked to wildlife trafficking. The service emphasized its commitment to facilitating legitimate trade while combating smuggling, arms trafficking, narcotics, and other illicit activities.
