Nigeria House probes fake PFIPC

The Nigeria — House of Representatives (Nigeria) ad hoc committee, chaired by Salih Yusuf Adamu, released its preliminary report on the alleged fictitious Nigeria — Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The committee found no evidence that Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila approved or participated in the PFIPC, and it cleared him of wrongdoing. It determined that Adeyemi Adeniran's purported appointment letter as Director-General was fabricated and falsely attributed to the Presidency. The committee also found that documents presented as a Presidential Executive Order and an Act of the National Assembly establishing the PFIPC were not authentic. It uncovered approximately 58 bank accounts and 12 entities linked to Adeyemi, including Confederation of United Nations Youths and Bangladesh — Public–Private Partnership Authority. The committee accused the Nigeria — Accountant-General of the Federation and the Nigeria — List of government agencies of Nigeria of institutional lapses in handling the matter. It also received a complaint alleging Adeyemi induced payments totaling approximately ₦400 million. The committee commended Gbajabiamila for alerting security agencies, including the Nigeria — Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria — Office of the National Security Adviser, United States — United States Department of State, and Nigeria — Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, after being alerted by the Nigeria — Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission. The investigation is ongoing, and the final report will recommend further action.
