The funding signals growing institutional interest in blockchain-based sovereign debt, potentially accelerating adoption of digital assets in regulated markets. USDM1's structure as collateral in 24/7 markets could enhance liquidity and efficiency for financial institutions.
M1X Global, a sovereign financial infrastructure company, closed an oversubscribed Seed funding round led by Paradigm with participation from Breed VC, bringing total funding to $8.5 million. The funds will support the development and institutional rollout of USDM1, the first USD-denominated sovereign bond natively issued on a public blockchain by the Marshall Islands, secured 1:1 by US Treasuries. The round closed 14 weeks after M1X Global's public launch and angel raise. Paradigm's investment reflects growing conviction in sovereign blockchain infrastructure. M1X Global partners with governments to bridge the transition to 24/7 programmable capital markets. USDM1 has been used in institutional working groups with major financial institutions including Bank of America, Citadel Securities, Virtu Financial, Tradeweb, and DTCC. The founding team includes CEO Mark Lurie, COO Dan Goldman, and Robert Muller.
