Robinhood's expansion into AI-driven crypto trading could boost trading volumes and user engagement, potentially increasing revenue. However, regulatory scrutiny and competition from Coinbase may temper gains.
Robinhood Markets announced on July 10, 2026, that eligible US customers will soon be able to connect third-party AI agents to trade cryptocurrencies on their behalf, expanding its Agentic Trading product beyond equities and options. The feature uses Robinhood's Model Context Protocol for secure integration and operates in isolated accounts. Over 70,000 agentic accounts have been created since the equities beta launch in May. The announcement follows the July 1 launch of Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 network that processed 17 million transactions in its first week. Competitors like Coinbase are also developing similar AI agent features. House Democrats have pressed the SEC on risks of agentic trading. Robinhood partners with AI providers including Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceX's Grok.
