Deutsche Bank fined $2M by ASIC

The fine is relatively small for Deutsche Bank and is unlikely to materially affect its financial position. However, the event underscores ASIC's heightened scrutiny of trade reporting accuracy, which may increase compliance costs for banks operating in Australia.
Deutsche Bank paid a A$2 million penalty to the Australia — Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) for misreporting more than 260,000 over-the-counter (OTC) derivative transactions between October 2024 and August 2025. The failures involved inaccurate reporting of 'direction' fields for foreign exchange and commodity derivatives, which ASIC deemed systemic and reflective of deficiencies in Deutsche Bank's internal reporting framework. Deutsche Bank cooperated with the investigation, paid the penalty, and is implementing remediation measures. ASIC has previously issued similar infringement notices to AMP Life Limited, 3G Capital, and Westpac.
