Anthropic's IPO could further boost the AI sector's market momentum and attract significant investor capital. The listing may also intensify competition among AI companies and influence valuations in the tech IPO market.
Anthropic PBC, the AI company behind the Claude chatbot, is moving closer to a potential mega-IPO. Banks including Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase are scheduling meetings between investors and Anthropic executives in the coming weeks, signaling preparations for a public debut as soon as October 2026. The company confidentially filed its IPO prospectus with the SEC last month. Anthropic's May funding round valued it at $965 billion, surpassing rival OpenAI's $852 billion valuation. The IPO would put Anthropic ahead of OpenAI, which has delayed its timeline to 2027, and Chinese AI firm DeepSeek, which is also preparing for an IPO. The listing follows a strong period of revenue growth driven by AI coding tools like Claude Code. However, Anthropic faces uncertainty from the Trump administration's temporary foreign access restrictions on two of its models and a lawsuit against the Defense Department over supply chain risk designation. The IPO market has seen a resurgence with AI-related companies, including SpaceX's June IPO and SK Hynix's US listing.
